Checking in

I am getting really excited here. I just got a sneak preview of the SSWUG vConference. The UI is outstanding, I love the way the Exhibit Hall looks. The navigation is near the exact same but the way it looks is going to make it so much easier to get around. I also took a quick look at the 100% new Chat feature and this is going to be awesome. This really is going to be the Ultimate Virtual Conference. I look forward to seeing everyone online.

SQL Server 2008 Event Just Announced

Stephen Wynkoop and I have been working on a “special event” for some time now. We have been trying to figure out how we can help get the word out about SQL Server 2008. The really exciting news is that we have figured out a way to do it. Everyone on the planet can join this Green SQL Server 2008 Community Launch Event. We are really excited about this. This event will take place on October 24th, 2008 and will not cost anyone… Continue

A Moment with Brent Ozar

One of the challenges that I face on a day to day basis is dealing with the cost of new servers, I mean this can hit us from so many directions. First we need the server, then the disk space, but if there is any amount of production material on this server then chances are you want it clustered. On top of all that the we have management buying third party aps from the lowest bidders where the application account needs sa access. We have server or databases that really need to be isolated just be… Continue

Matthew Roche the Business Intelligence Content Chair

Matthew Roche is the conference chair for the Business Intelligence Conference that SSWUG is hosting, and I cannot tell you how impressed we are with the caliber of speakers that he put together for the conference. I got to sit and talk with Matt Mason and Donald Farmer a couple of his speakers from Microsoft just last week and I cannot wait to see the presentations. Matthew is going to be joining the Microsoft team soon. I sent the same questions to Matthew that I did all the speakers and here… Continue

Ted Malone Share Point Chair

Ted Malone is a friend of mine. We have spoke at a number of conferences together for years now; the funny thing here is that we live in the same town. But I see Ted more often at conferences in other cities then I do in Colorado Springs. Ted is an all around expert in the technology industry and I was very happy for him when I heard he got his Microsoft MVP Award not too long ago. Recently I asked Ted to be the Content Chair for the SSWUG Share Point Conference. He accepted and we are off and r… Continue
