When Dissertation Troubles Surrounded Me:
This is an appreciative letter to thank the people who provided pin-point and professional
dissertation help at the time when I was totally disappointed and had braced myself to meet the disaster regarding my PhD degree. It was the worst time of my life when I even thought of my dissertation disapproval.
I was busy working and handling my social life. You can say that I was hanging in bala…

I am getting really excited here. I just got a sneak preview of the SSWUG vConference. The UI is outstanding, I love the way the Exhibit Hall looks. The navigation is near the exact same but the way it looks is going to make it so much easier to get around. I also took a quick look at the 100% new Chat feature and this is going to be awesome. This really is going to be the Ultimate Virtual Conference. I look forward to seeing everyone online.

Stephen Wynkoop and I have been working on a “special event” for some time now. We have been trying to figure out how we can help get the word out about SQL Server 2008. The really exciting news is that we have figured out a way to do it. Everyone on the planet can join this Green
SQL Server 2008 Community Launch Event. We are really excited about this. This event will take place on October 24th, 2008 and will not cost anyone…

One of the challenges that I face on a day to day basis is dealing with the cost of new servers, I mean this can hit us from so many directions. First we need the server, then the disk space, but if there is any amount of production material on this server then chances are you want it clustered. On top of all that the we have management buying third party aps from the lowest bidders where the application account needs sa access. We have server or databases that really need to be isolated just be…

Matthew Roche is the conference chair for the Business Intelligence Conference that SSWUG is hosting, and I cannot tell you how impressed we are with the caliber of speakers that he put together for the conference. I got to sit and talk with Matt Mason and Donald Farmer a couple of his speakers from Microsoft just last week and I cannot wait to see the presentations. Matthew is going to be joining the Microsoft team soon. I sent the same questions to Matthew that I did all the speakers and here…

Ted Malone is a friend of mine. We have spoke at a number of conferences together for years now; the funny thing here is that we live in the same town. But I see Ted more often at conferences in other cities then I do in Colorado Springs. Ted is an all around expert in the technology industry and I was very happy for him when I heard he got his Microsoft MVP Award not too long ago. Recently I asked Ted to be the Content Chair for the SSWUG Share Point Conference. He accepted and we are off and r…

We are looking at doing a session at this upcoming SSWUG SQL Server Conference that will be based on all the questions that we have received in the past. With SQL Server 2008 being released not too long ago I wanted to give everyone a chance to ask questions that they would like a panel to answer. On the panel I believe there will be Steve Wynkoop, Paul Neilson and myself.
So here is your chance, ask away. We will answer as many questions as we can in the allotted 1 hour time slot. We are lookin…

I recently interviewed a number of the speakers that will be speaking at the SSWUG conferences. I am going to post many of these but I thought you might like to see what Tim Heuer had to say. First let me tell you a little more about Tim.
Tim Heuer is a program manager for Microsoft Silverlight. He helps build the worldwide Silverlight community and is very passionate about the platform and technology in general. Having over 13 years of experience with Microsoft web technologies, Tim is excited…

After the June SSWUG SQL Server Conference I reviewed the surveys just as I did after the February conference. One of the things that we noticed was a number of people really wanted to have a lab where they could test some of the new things they were learning. After talking to MaximunASP we are glad to announce that we have come up with a great partnership that will allow us to bring the lab’s to reality. During the Oct SSWUG SQL Server Conference attendees will be able to attach to a SQL Server…

Folio posted an
article on July 31st that I think is showing the wave to the future. Prices are going up in travel, and the cost to get a trainer to come to you is larger then what many people can afford to pay. On top of all that budgets are shrinking, and companies are expecting the employees to start paying for their own training. The end result is there is an answer for you.
Conferences that are the future are done on-l…

One of the most important items to keep in mind with Green events is that the level of education cannot be put aside just because the event is Green. When we keep that in mind it is important for us to remember that we are doing everything that we can to make sure we have the best speakers that we can to bring the level of our Green Events.
With that being said…
There are a number of experts out there in the field of Replication. I have worked with a number of these but there are few that floa…

Something that we often overlook is how we have already become somewhat green and where we have done it. One of these area’s is in where and how we look for a new job. If you think back to 10 or 15 years ago when you looked for a job you were really left with only a few options, one was to scan the local newspapers or ask friends, and the you were left with sending in printed off resumes, cover letters and references. Today you can jump on a job website and start reviewing jobs and submitting re…

That is the amount of money that the SSWUG conference saved its attendees this past June. On top of that attendees walked away with a VIP Code that will get them into Dev Connections for a $150.00 off the normal price. At the SSWUG V-Conference everyone got all they could handle of 11 expert speakers over three consecutive, 17 hour days. That is over 30 sessions of instruction with countless hours of speakers answering questions.
To top this off, all the sessions that were recorded for those th…

Well the summer conference season is completed and we are well on our way to the third season of travel less conferencing in the fall. For many people we have the opportunity to attend one in person conference a year, but it comes at a hefty price. The fall conferences may have a new feel to them because we now have people that are being asked to wear many hats.
This fall we have a .net conference, a SharePoint conference, a BI conference along with a SQL Server conference that will help us del…

Geez. One of the things we're trying to address is the time differences around the world. Having sessions available at three different times during the day helps, but displaying the schedule in a way that makes sense is tough.
In the first conference, we just listed times in Pacific time - but this was confusing for a lot of people as they tried to make the conversion. We consider Eastern Standard for this one, but we're going with a new system that shows the times for you - in your timezone -…

Looking to build a session for the conference where I can essentially take someone from "here' your server" to "I understand what I'm managing with my server."
I really want to have some great take-aways with this one - spreadsheets, docs, outlines, whatever. Am thinking too that we will make this video downloadable for folks so you can refer back to it.
Should be interesting. If you have any tips, drop me a note or post a comment here. Really want to have this jam-packed with tips and lessons…
